Clara is a skilled mediator with a training in understanding-based approach to conflict. As an independent consultor, she supports academic and professional publishing houses, organizations and academic institutions in diverse areas of company strategy, publishing, marketing and in international relations development.

Clara joined the Union of International Associations as External Relations Manager in 2011. In her role as Publisher, Managing Director and Member of the Management Board with various international publishing and media companies such as K. G. Saur in Germany, Gale in the U.S., Thomson Learning in U.K. and De Gruyter in Germany, from 1988 to 2011 she was the Publisher of UIA’s “Yearbook of International Organizations”.

Since 1998, Clara is a Lecturer in Media Sciences at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany and since 2017 Member of the Executive Board of the International Youth Library Foundation.

Jeffers Miruka

Mr. Jeffers Miruka is the President and Founder member of the African Society of Association Executives (AfSAE). AfSAE is a pan-African professional community of association executives formed in 2015 to serve as the professional society for those within the Association Management profession in Africa.

Mr. Miruka is also the Executive Director of the African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE), a Nairobi based association of agricultural and development economists with over 3000 members spread globally, with specific interest in African agricultural transformation.

Mr. Miruka has over 13 years combined experience in association management and MICE. He has a rich experience in association development, convention bureau management, and is a frequent speaker and contributor to many global publications, media interviews and association forums.

Mr. Miruka is currently involved with the government of Kenya, activating the Kenya National Convention Bureau. He is well known internationally in the MICE Business events industry and easily recognized as the pre-eminent African associations ambassador and a leader of the association movement in the continent. He has a Masters in Global Marketing.

Noor Ahmad Hamid

Noor has been the Regional Director Asia Pacific of ICCA since 2009. Prior to joining ICCA, he began his career in tourism marketing with the national tourist authority – Tourism Malaysia where he has handled and overseen the international & domestic tourism promotion, media hospitality, meeting & incentive projects and event organising.

In 1989, he was posted to Los Angeles and high-jumped to the meetings & incentive side for 5 years when the sales responsibility was incorporated into his portfolio. After 16 years with Tourism Malaysia, he joined the business sector in event management, sponsorship and innovative tourism projects, a background that uniquely helps him understand ICCA members’ vast range of business cultures and working environments.

Under Noor’s leadership, ICCA Asia Pacific Office has seen a major expansion in terms of size with the establishment of a Global Research Centre, and it paved the way for more comprehensive research projects undertaken by Kuala Lumpur-based research team for the benefit of members and the association community worldwide.

In his current role as Regional Director Asia Pacific, Noor continues to be a vital ambassador for ICCA and represents ICCA in numerous talks in the region at national & regional meetings forums. In addition, he provides training workshops and leads educational seminars in bidding & marketing. He also sits on the Founding Advisory Board and serves as Ambassador for the ASAE Great Ideas in Association Management Conference Asia Pacific. His aim is to help grow the international meetings industry in the Asia Pacific region.

Prof Teo Soo-Hwang is Chief Executive of Cancer Research Malaysia, a non-profit cancer research organisation working with global teams to ensure that the fight against cancer doesn’t miss Asians. This includes the development of vaccines for the prevention of oral and nasopharyngeal cancer, genetic testing methods for Asian women, patient navigation programmes to improve survivorship in Malaysia.

She is responsible for setting up and implementing strategies and programs that will maintain PARIMA as the fastest growing professional association for Risk managers in Asia. Besides managing the overall planning and development of PARIMA, she is also in charge of the day to day operations. PARIMA’s members are solely corporate risk managers and it has currently more than 1400 members, representing more than 800 companies and spread across 30 countries. Since joining PARIMA, she has grown the association by more than five times and introduced new initiatives such as certification, partnerships, competency modelling and self-assessments.

Stacey believes in the need and importance of strategic development. A management consultant with over 10 years of experience, she has helped companies with their transformation and growth agenda. She has worked across multiple industries, countries and cultures, having lived and worked in Kenya, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Dato’ Seri Dr. Ronald McCoy

Dato’ Seri Dr. Ronald McCoy graduated from the University of Malaya and worked at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital and subsequently in Assunta Hospital and Pantai Medical Centre until he retired in 1996. He has been actively involved in the worldwide physicians’ movement for the elimination of nuclear weapons since 1986. He was co-president of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. Later, he initiated the formation of International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) when the 2005 review conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty failed to make progress. This led to the launching of ICAN which is now a worldwide coalition of 468 non-governmental organisations from 101 countries. ICAN was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on 10th December 2017 for “its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons and for its ground breaking efforts to achieve a treaty based prohibition of such weapons.”
